Character Study (I)

Vanessa was having her typical morning acting so calmly doing things with a such a slow pace that made things seem like they were going slower, that made time slow down and made things seem eternal, never ending. She was moving to Los Angeles to look for fame, and also go to UCLA but mostly to look for fame. Vanessa was the kind of person to be calm about anything, not worry about life because she definitely didn’t think as life as eternal, she knew it ended and she wanted to live the life she was given the correct way. She did feel excited and a bit nervous but it was what most people would feel when moving to another state. Vanessa was doing some last minute packing Checking things off her list that she had on her phone. She was making last minute calls to let everyone know she was finally leaving or to say her goodbyes.

Tone

What I got out of class today is that authors use TONE to send a message or a feeling to the audience (us). The way they do that is by using differnt language & using imagery to paint a picture. The tone can really help you get into what the author is saying and that’ll help you thourougly understand the book/story because sometimes your reading a book and you read a whole ass chapter and don’t have a clue what you read so setting a tone can really help the reader dive into it and not be able to get out.

The making of a satire

At first I had no idea what I was going to do, I was actually lost because I didn’t understand what the idea or concept was about. For me being lost is nothing new, I will admit at times I am slow with understanding instructions or just what’s being asked so I’ll stay there lost for a bit until someone explains it thoroughly. Then Janessa started blurting out ideas and I was helping her sort all thoes ideas into one and I didn’t even realize it when I had made one, different then hers but still going the same directions. I was going to be lazy and use that one even if it was similar to hers but that’s not really who I am so I thought of a new one. I wasn’t mad or bothered at the fact that I had to make a new one I was actually happy that I understood the question and I could finally get my ideas flowing. I can’t really say I saw my idea in the internet or I over heard someone and that sparked an idea. I sat and had a list of ideas that just ran through my head I stopped and thought of ...

Satire

Why are people so against abortion? But others will have the kids and leave them on the streets.

HOW I LEARN

The way I manage my time is by sorting things out through my brain. What I mean by that is that I think of everything I’m going to do and set an exact time and sometimes I even set the time a little forward for example if I have to be at work at 3 I’ll say in my head “get ready at 1” because I know I take my time and take long so that way I won’t be late no matter what. I even found myself trying to plan everything out in my head of what I was going to do and how because I woke up late and I was trying to divide my time equally with all the things I needed to do so I could be ready in time and it worked I even had time to eat breakfast in a rush but I still did. The way I remember things is if I constantly have to remember it for whatever the reason may be then I find myself slowly remembering it like my id number and pw my freshman year and by the middle of the semester I had it down because we used it for everything. BUT THEN they decide to change my aeries pw so now I gotta memorize...

A modest proposal

My first impression to this was that he writes differently from other authors/writers and his tone is different considering the fact that he’s being sarcastic to show what’s actually true. I think he was using the idea of eating children to capture our attention. I say our because most teens my age wouldn’t spend time reading something boring but this was interesting and it made me keep reading so it worked.
